The year 2024 marked 150 years since the arrival of Italian immigrants in Brazil, a significant event that deeply impacted the country's culture, society, and economy. Italian immigration to Brazil, beginning in 1874 with the ship "La Sofia," fostered a rich cultural exchange and left a lasting legacy.
This event will be centered on a documentary dedicated to the story of this immigration.
Sponsored by the Departments of French & Italian and Spanish & Portuguese, the School of Literatures, Cultures, and Linguistics, and the European Union and Leman Centers at UIUC.
