Amelia Reggi (M.A. student, Italian Studies) and Robin Turner (PhD student, French Linguistics) are holding FLAS (Foreign Language and Area Studies) fellowships in the academic year 2020-2021. FLAS fellowships are very competitive and typically awarded to advanced language learners of second and third foreign languages.

Amelia will be putting her fellowship in Italian towards her research and the promotion of Italian in the UIUC community as well as working with the European Union Center. Next year, Amelia will be part of the United States' Fulbright program in Italy.

Robin will be using her fellowship to continue to study Catalan and to work towards her dissertation project examining linguistic identities and practices of multilingual LGBTQ+ communities. She has also been awarded a summer FLAS fellowship in Catalonia next year.

Congratulations, Amalia and Robin!
